In 2015, Joel was contacted by a group of Canadian based philanthropists known as “The Bahatizz.” To document their Africa Tour. It’s from this point that Joel found his passion in the visual arts field, stretching towards Documentary related projects.  And with time, he fully transitioned from entertainment and lifestyle photography, to becoming a documentarian. With the yarn to tell stories that don’t just get the like notifications on social media buzzing, but are created to last for a lifetime, with a globally recognized impact, and at a greater extent, changing the lives of the characters in his documentary projects.

“Five Came Back: A Story of Hollywood and the Second World War by Mark Harris.” a book that critcs the documentary works of the five lengendary documentarians of the World War II, is where Joel draws his inspiration from as a Documentarian. The five documentarians are legendary in the visual art industry to the extent that their documentary films and photographs, continue to be used to this day, in the different aspects of life, such as education and research, entertainment, judicial evidence, and to a greater extent, reminding us as humanity, to never end up into the direction of the Second World War.

Over the years, Joel has and continues to be mentored by globally recognized documentarians such as Aida Muluneh, an Ethiopian photographer and contemporary artist based in Addis Ababa.  That has worked with the Washington Post, and has recieved global recognition for her work such as the European Union Prize at African Photography Encounters, the CRAF International Award of Photography. And the Award for Photographic Curatorship of the Royal Photographic Society. Joel has also taken part of workshops with established creatives hubs, such as the Uganda Press Photo Awards, amongst many more.

Coupled up with his experience from working with different established organisations and globally recognized personalities for the last 8 years and continuing, Joel has an undeniable skill set, using media tools such as film, photography, design, sound engineering, vfx and alot more. As tools that he combines to deliver the message accross.  Joel is greatly influenced by his Bachelor’s in Industrial Design and Fine Art studies, where he had his creativity natured. Making him able to come up with outstanding projects. Gratitude that he gives to his lecturers such as Annette Sebba, Joseph Raymond Nsereko, Philip Kwesiga, Godfrey Banadda, and many more.
